Three family members drown in Manjeera river at Budimi village

A 31-year-old woman and two teenage girls drowned in the Manjeera river at Budimi village in the Banswada mandal of Kamareddy district on Friday evening. The tragedy occurred near the Kankaragadda Yellamma temple, where a family had gathered to attend a function.
The deceased were identified as Anitha, 31, her daughter Shivani, 13, and their relative Pavanisree, 15. All three victims drowned while attempting to rescue a teenage boy who had slipped into the river.
The family members had traveled to Budimi village to attend a function organized by T Pandari, a resident of Kamareddy. Among the guests who gathered at the Kankaragadda Yellamma temple were Pandari's brother-in-law, L Narsimhulu, his wife Anitha, and their children, 13-year-old Shivani and eight-year-old Srikanth.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 4 p.m. after the function had concluded. Anitha, Shivani, and other relatives—identified as Pavanisree, 15, Bhanu Prasad, 14, and Sujatha, 35—walked to the banks of the nearby Manjeera river to attend nature's call.
While they were near the riverbank, Bhanu Prasad accidentally fell into the deep water of the Manjeera river. Seeing him slip, Sujatha, Anitha, Shivani, and Pavanisree immediately jumped into the river in an attempt to rescue him.
Hearing the screams of the family members, Narsimhulu and other local residents rushed to the riverbank. They managed to rescue Bhanu Prasad and Sujatha from the water. However, Anitha, Shivani, and Pavanisree were swept away and drowned before they could be saved.
Narsimhulu and local villagers subsequently searched the river and retrieved the bodies of the three victims.
Pitlam Sub-Inspector B Anjaneyulu confirmed that the bodies were shifted to the Government Area Hospital in Banswada. The duty medical officer at the hospital declared all three victims brought dead upon arrival.
