Hyderabad Police Deploy 5,000 Officers to Search Hotels Under Operation Kavach

HYDERABAD — The Hyderabad Police conducted a massive checking operation of lodges and hotels across the city on Friday night, June 5, 2026. The operation, named "Operation Kavach," was launched to foil attempts by unsocial elements to commit criminal acts in the city.
VC Sajjanar, the Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad, stated that around 5,000 policemen participated in the city-wide operation. The inspections were conducted across all the police stations in the city, ensuring a comprehensive security sweep of hospitality establishments.
During the operation, police teams verified the credentials of the individuals staying in the lodges. The officers also thoroughly checked the guest records maintained by the management of the lodges to detect any irregularities.
In addition to the lodge inspections, Commissioner Sajjanar noted that the police had conducted large-scale checking of vehicles in the city on the previous day. During those vehicle checks, police found that some persons were using earphones connected to their mobile phones while driving.
The Commissioner stated that the police will initiate action against such individuals and book cases against them. To address this issue, a dedicated special drive will be launched to curb the practice of driving while using earphones.
