Hyderabad Literary Festival and CREDAI Host Three-Day Cultural Event at Hitex

The Hyderabad Literary Festival partnered with CREDAI Hyderabad to host a three-day series of conversations, readings, and interactive sessions on the sidelines of the CREDAI Hyderabad Property Show at Hitex in Hitec City.

The programme explored the changing identity of Hyderabad, bridging the cultural heritage of the old city with the rapid expansion of modern IT corridors. Founding director of the Hyderabad Literary Festival Kinnera Moorthy noted that the festival provides a platform for residents to reflect on the nature of a fast-evolving city.

The event opened with a panel discussion titled "Finding Home, Making of a City." The session was moderated by architect G Srinivas Murthy, principal architect at SMG Design Inc and chairman of the Indian Green Building Council's Hyderabad chapter. Panelists included Hyderabad Literary Festival director T Vijay Kumar, INTACH Telangana State Chapter convenor Sajjad Shahid, educationist and former GHMC co-opted member Ayesha Rubina, and Manbhum Construction Company founder and past CREDAI president P Ramakrishna Rao.

The panel addressed the shifting geography of Hyderabad, discussing how urban growth moved westward into the Financial District and replaced traditional mohallas with gated communities. Panelists debated the role of developers and citizens in sustaining public life and community spaces amidst urban development.

On the second day, The Little Theatre Hyderabad presented multilingual readings reflecting the city's literary heritage, featuring excerpts in English, Telugu, and Urdu from works including "Untold Charminar" and poetry by Sarojini Naidu. The session also included readings focused on local ghost stories.

The three-day gathering concluded with a Hyderabad-themed trivia quiz covering the history and heritage of the city.
