HMWSSB fines Aisha Rao Bridal Wear in Banjara Hills Rs 15,000 for wastewater discharge

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) imposed a Rs 15,000 penalty on Aisha Rao Bridal Wear in Banjara Hills on Monday after wastewater from a sump cleaning operation was illegally discharged onto a public road, blocking the local drainage system.

The establishment, located in the Venkateswara Colony ward along Banjara Hills Road No. 10, had hired a private agency to clean its water sump. During the operation, wastewater was pumped directly onto the street using a submersible dewatering pump set.

According to a Water Board press release, the illegal discharge choked the neighborhood's drainage network for an entire day, causing severe public inconvenience.

Upon receiving a complaint regarding the blockage, Water Board officials inspected the site and seized the submersible dewatering pump set used by the private agency.

Officials cautioned representatives of both Aisha Rao Bridal Wear and the private agency against future violations, warning that stricter action would be initiated if wastewater is discharged onto public roads again. The Water Board reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy will be maintained against activities that disrupt public drainage systems or inconvenience citizens.
