HMRL to Upgrade 10 Metro Stations in Pilot Project Following Begumpet Inspection

Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL) officials announced on Monday that the transit agency will immediately take up the development of 10 metro stations as part of a pilot project designed to improve passenger amenities. HMRL Additional Managing Director B Ajith Reddy announced the new upgrade initiative after conducting an official inspection of key stations, starting at Begumpet.

During his inspection on Monday, Reddy travelled directly by metro train from Begumpet to Raidurg. Throughout the journey, he reviewed the existing facilities at the Begumpet, Ameerpet, and Raidurg metro stations. Following his review, Reddy directed officials to prepare station-specific improvement plans for each location. He stated that the 10 selected stations will be upgraded first as part of the pilot project before similar works are extended to other stations across the metro network in subsequent phases.

The inspection focused on essential aspects of station operations and passenger comfort, including parking, cleanliness, sanitation, security, and general passenger movement. While visiting Raidurg station, Reddy specifically reviewed the skywalk, connectivity to nearby IT offices, and crowd management at the busy Mindspace Junction. He directed officials to streamline station arrangements during peak hours to ensure smoother movement for commuters.

Reddy expressed dissatisfaction with the upkeep in some areas during the visit and told officials not to compromise on cleanliness or the quality of station maintenance. He further instructed officials to make better use of existing parking spaces and to improve the upkeep and maintenance of road dividers located beneath the metro viaducts.

He explained that the main objective of this exercise is to provide metro commuters with more convenient facilities while actively monitoring passenger amenities through phased inspections across the entire network.
