The celestial wedding of Goddess Sri Yellamma commenced in the locality of Balkampet in Hyderabad on Tuesday, drawing a large crowd of devotees. The sacred ceremony began amid the chanting of traditional vedic hymns by the temple priests, marking the official start of the religious event.
A festive atmosphere prevailed throughout Balkampet and its surrounding areas as the wedding celebrations got underway. To mark the grand occasion, the lanes and bylanes connecting to the temple were decorated. The local streets were adorned with colourful flowers and bright LED lights, creating a vibrant setting for the visiting public.
A large number of devotees, especially women, turned up at the temple on Tuesday to have a darshan of Goddess Sri Yellamma during the auspicious event. Due to the turnout, the district administration worked in close coordination with the state endowments department and the police department. Together, these departments made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony.
In addition to the physical arrangements made at the Balkampet temple, a live telecast of the celestial wedding ceremony was also provided. This broadcast allowed devotees who could not physically attend the event to watch the sacred rituals virtually.
The ceremony also saw the participation of several high-profile dignitaries. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s wife, Geetha Reddy, and his daughter, Nymisha Reddy, attended the celestial wedding. They were joined by Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, along with other dignitaries who arrived at the temple to witness the proceedings.
