Gachibowli Police Book Software Engineer for Harassing Dutch Woman

Gachibowli police have registered a criminal case against a software engineer after a 36-year-old nurse from the Netherlands accused him of stalking, misbehaving, and sexually harassing her at a residential flat in Gachibowli. Police officials confirmed the registration of the case on Monday, July 27, 2026, following a written complaint submitted by the victim.
The incident allegedly took place in March this year when the woman traveled from the Netherlands to Hyderabad to visit her boyfriend. During her visit to the city, she stayed at the apartment in Gachibowli that her boyfriend shared with the accused software professional.
In her statement to the police, the woman alleged that her boyfriend's roommate engaged in inappropriate behavior and targeted her during her stay at the residence. She stated that the software engineer stalked her, touched her inappropriately, and sexually harassed her inside the flat.
Following the alleged encounters in March, the Dutch national returned home to the Netherlands. Upon traveling back to Hyderabad recently, she took steps to report the misconduct to local law enforcement authorities. She formally lodged her complaint with officials at the Gachibowli Police Station on July 23.
Based on the detailed complaint, the Gachibowli police registered a case against the software engineer under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The legal charges filed against the accused include assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment, stalking, and words, gestures, or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman.
A police official stated that law enforcement authorities have issued an official notice to the accused software professional in relation to the registered case. The Gachibowli police are proceeding with the legal process and further actions based on the formal charges.
