Fitistan to Host Second Gunners Soldierathon at Golconda Artillery Centre

Fitistan, a fitness community driven by passion and purpose, has announced that the second edition of the Gunners Soldierathon will take place on September 27 at the Artillery Centre in Golconda, Hyderabad. The upcoming endurance event will mark a major historical milestone, celebrating 200 years of the Regiment of Artillery.

This year’s event carries special significance as it commemorates the bicentenary of the Regiment of Artillery, recognising the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of its Gunners through the spirit of sport and endurance. The initiative forms an integral part of the wider Soldierathon movement, which seeks to connect the public with the armed services.

Organisers noted that participants will have the opportunity to run alongside friends, family members, colleagues, and fellow fitness enthusiasts. In doing so, runners and walkers will pay tribute to the historical contributions and profound sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and generations of military Gunners.

The race lineup features multiple running and walking categories designed to cater to varied age groups and fitness levels. The premier distance is the 21.0975 km Half Marathon, which is open to adult participants aged 18 and above. A 10 km Run is open to runners aged 12 and above, while the 5 km Run/Walk allows entries from participants aged 10 and older.

In addition to the main distance running events, the lineup includes a 1 km Gunners Day Celebration Walk and a Cheer Buddy category. The 1 km Gunners Day Celebration Walk has been opened to participants aged three years and above, warmly welcoming specially-abled participants who wish to take part in the festivities.

Speaking about the initiative, Fitistan founder and former special forces officer Major Dr Surendra Poonia emphasised the core ethos of the run. He stated that the event is about remembering those who served, celebrating those who continue to serve, and inspiring the next generation to embrace the values of discipline, resilience, and service.

Registrations for the Federal Bank Gunners Soldierathon Hyderabad event have been opened online via Townscript ahead of the race day scheduled for September 27 at Golconda.
