Dhruv Sitwala Finishes Runner-Up in Pan Am Cup Billiards Final Against Peter Gilchrist

Reigning Asian billiards champion Dhruv Sitwala fell short in the final of the Pan Am Cup Billiards Championship, losing 972-1500 to Singapore's Peter Gilchrist in Winnipeg, Canada.

The Mumbai southpaw opened the championship contest in rousing fashion, establishing an early lead of approximately 450 points over his opponent. However, Sitwala let his commanding initial advantage slip away as the match progressed, allowing the Singaporean cueist back into contention.

Gilchrist overcame his slow start by producing three double-century breaks in rapid succession to seize control of the final. The multi-time champion registered scores of 102, 207, 239, 208, and an unfinished break of 214 on his way to securing the title.

Sitwala, a four-time world championship runner-up, managed breaks of 101, 102, 81, 70, 176, 96, and 80 during the contest. Although the Indian ace earned multiple scoring opportunities to close the gap, he was unable to capitalise on them before Gilchrist wrapped up the victory with his decisive 214 unfinished run.

While Sitwala had previously defeated Gilchrist in the final of the New Zealand Open two years ago, he has faced difficulties against his Singaporean rival in recent meetings, concluding this edition of the tournament as the runner-up.
