DGP CV Anand Orders Digitization of Police Welfare Schemes in Hyderabad

On Monday, 20 July 2026, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand reviewed the functioning of the Police Welfare Society and the Arogya Bhadratha scheme in Hyderabad. During the review meeting, DGP Anand directed officials to digitize all welfare services to ensure greater transparency and accountability for police personnel and their families.
The DGP emphasized that the welfare of police department personnel and their families remains one of the top priorities for the state police department. He noted that various welfare initiatives, including medical care, education assistance, marriage assistance, loans, scholarships, and insurance benefits, are being actively implemented to provide essential financial security to police families.
Among the educational initiatives reviewed, the department provides merit scholarships and financial assistance to the children of police personnel. This support is specifically targeted at those pursuing higher education and those preparing for highly competitive national examinations, including JEE and NEET.
The review meeting also analyzed the performance and reach of the Arogya Bhadratha (Health Protection) Scheme. According to the official figures presented, a total of 33,126 police personnel and their family members availed medical treatment under the scheme in 2025. The total expenditure for these treatments in 2025 stood at Rs 181.74 crore. For the year 2026, a total of 12,392 beneficiaries received treatment up to June, with an expenditure of Rs 73.61 crore.
Furthermore, DGP Anand reviewed the Group Personal Accidental Insurance Policy. This policy is designed to provide critical financial assistance to the families of police personnel who lose their lives in accidents while serving. The insurance coverage ranges from Rs 5 lakh for Constables and Assistant Sub-Inspectors to Rs 25 lakh for IPS officers and above.
To streamline these services, the DGP directed officials to create an integrated digital platform. This platform will contain comprehensive beneficiary details, records of fund utilization, and service delivery history. According to the DGP, this digitization effort will ensure that welfare services are both highly transparent and easily accessible to all eligible personnel.
