Cyberabad Civic Body Demolishes 185 Unauthorised Buildings After Gachibowli Collapse

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation enforcement wing has demolished 185 unauthorised structures under construction across its limits, following a fatal building collapse at Anjaiah Nagar in Gachibowli.
The widespread enforcement drive was initiated after an unauthorised seven-storey structure under construction collapsed on August 22 in Anjaiah Nagar, killing two workers on the spot. In response to the incident, the CMC commissioner launched a special drive on August 24, deploying municipal enforcement teams across the civic body's zones.
According to official data, Serilingampally Zone recorded the highest number of demolitions among all CMC zones, accounting for 81 unauthorised structures. Quthbullapur Zone followed with 64 demolitions, while enforcement teams pulled down 40 structures in Kukatpally Zone.
In a press statement, CMC officials stated that municipal teams were continuing field-level identification and enforcement operations across all zones. The civic body noted that identified cases were being pursued strictly under prescribed procedures and applicable building regulations.
Officials added that enforcement personnel will continue monitoring unauthorised constructions across CMC limits and taking action to ensure compliance with the applicable rules.
