CSIR-IICT Hosts Lecture in Hyderabad on Sustainable Crop Protection Solutions

The growing global population and rising demand for food are intensifying the necessity for effective and sustainable crop protection solutions, experts said during a lecture organised by the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The discussion was held during the 3rd Annual Dr UT Bhalerao Memorial Lecture organised at the institute. The session focused on the critical challenges emerging in crop health and agricultural sustainability amidst shifting global food needs.

Delivering the address, Ramakrishnan Vallinayagam, Global Crop Protection Discovery Research - Chemistry Director at BASF Chemicals India Pvt Ltd (Mumbai), highlighted the need to develop new crop protection molecules featuring improved performance to counter emerging agricultural threats.

Vallinayagam presented on the topic “Flask to Field - Modern Crop Protection Discovery Trends and Opportunities for Academia-Industry Collaboration”. His lecture examined modern discovery trends in crop protection research and explored opportunities for deeper engagement between academic researchers and industry experts.
