Cricketer and DSP Mohammed Siraj meets DGP CV Anand in Hyderabad

Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj, who serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Telangana Police, formally met with Telangana Director-General of Police (DGP) CV Anand on Tuesday. The official protocol meeting took place at the State police headquarters located in the Lakdi-Ka-Pul area of Hyderabad.

Following the interaction, DGP CV Anand took to the social media platform 'X' to share his thoughts on Siraj's inspiring journey from local grounds to international cricket. Anand recalled that he has observed Siraj's growth since the time the young bowler was playing tennis ball cricket in the city.

According to the DGP, the turning point in Siraj's career began around 2013-14. During this period, Abdul Azeem, a former cricketer from Hyderabad who was serving as a selector at the time, approached Anand and requested him to come and watch the young bowler's talent firsthand.

Based on that recommendation, Siraj was immediately selected to play in the local two-day leagues. By 2015, his progress continued as he moved up to play in the three-day leagues. Anand noted that Siraj's exceptional bowling speed and accuracy quickly paved the way for his debut in the Ranji Trophy.

Siraj's career took off significantly during the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season, where he delivered an outstanding performance by taking 41 wickets. Anand noted that after this successful season, the Hyderabad bowler never looked back.

Anand praised Siraj's rise to representing India across all formats of international cricket, describing it as a testament to how talent, discipline, and hard work can overcome even the toughest obstacles. The DGP highlighted Siraj's pace and intensity, noting his consistent contributions to the national pace attack and calling him a precious star from Hyderabad.

At the conclusion of their meeting, the DGP wished Siraj continued success and hoped for many more memorable bowling spells in India's national colours.
