CMC Clears Olympic-Standard BMX Track at Medchal and Ameenpur Waste Plant

The standing committee of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation approved several major urban infrastructure and sanitation proposals on Tuesday, including the development of an Olympic-standard BMX supercross track near the Medchal Check Post and a bio-methanisation facility in Ameenpur. The decisions were finalised during the civic body's seventh ordinary meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan. Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Srijana attended the session alongside zonal commissioners and various departmental heads to review and sanction projects across sports, sanitation, governance, and environmental sustainability.

A primary highlight among the approved items was the plan to build the first UCI Olympic-standard 5m and 8m Dual Hill BMX Supercross Track in India and the SAARC region near the Medchal Check Post. The civic administration cleared the project with the aim of advancing cycling, BMX sports, and general recreational activities in the area.

To address sanitation and waste management, the committee cleared the establishment of a 50 TPD bio-methanisation plant at Ameenpur under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 framework. In conjunction with the plant, the corporation sanctioned the procurement of new mechanised road-sweeping vehicles and truck-mounted skip loaders to enhance daily street cleaning and municipal waste transport.

The standing committee also moved forward with renewable energy and waste diversion efforts by approving a green waste-to-bio-briquette plant. The initiative will be taken up through proposed Expression of Interest processes to transform organic green waste into alternative fuel. A project for the scientific management of chicken waste was also approved.

Additional administrative decisions included a plan to establish a child-friendly and safe civic body in collaboration with UNICEF, as well as the formal adoption of the official Cyberabad Municipal Corporation logo across civic assets. The committee further approved corporate social responsibility-supported greening and maintenance along the Nallagandla X Road to Tellapur Road stretch, alongside the expansion of dog shelters located at the Mahadevapuram Animal Care Centre.
