CMC Approves India's First Olympic-Standard BMX Supercross Track in Medchal

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has approved a proposal to develop India’s first UCI Olympic-standard BMX Supercross track near the Medchal checkpost in Hyderabad. The professional-grade cycling facility will come up on more than three acres of stadium land located in Medchal Circle under the civic body's Quthbullapur zone.

The project was cleared during the seventh ordinary meeting of the CMC Standing Committee, held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Special Chief Secretary for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Jayesh Ranjan, alongside CMC Commissioner G. Srijana and other senior civic officials.

Estimated to cost approximately ₹6 crore, the new circuit will feature dual-hill ramps of 5 metres and 8 metres to support different levels of cycling competition. The main racing track will measure between 370 and 400 metres in length, designed to meet international sporting standards set by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

According to the CMC, the facility will also house an all-weather warm-up pump track to assist cyclists in training and race preparation. To support athletes and events, the complex will include an administrative and office block, dedicated equipment storage areas, washroom facilities, and a watchman cabin.

The civic body has also planned integrated spectator stands to accommodate audiences during tournaments, as well as comprehensive floodlighting across the venue to allow evening and nighttime sessions. A dedicated parking area will be developed within the stadium grounds to handle event traffic and visitors.

A BMX Supercross track is a specialized cycling circuit designed for high-speed, off-road racing over jumps and berms. Once completed, the Medchal facility will provide local and national athletes with dedicated infrastructure for international-level training and competitive events in Hyderabad.
