CJP Backs Polytechnic Students Protesting Against GO 97 at Dharna Chowk

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) extended its support on Thursday, September 3, to polytechnic students from Telangana who staged a protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad demanding the immediate withdrawal of Government Order (GO) 97.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke joined the demonstration through a video conference to assure the protesting students of the party’s backing. He stated that he would travel to Telangana to join the agitation in person if the state government fails to resolve the students' grievances or if the demonstrations persist.

During the interaction, Dipke also spoke with students who were reportedly injured during the protest and condemned an alleged police lathi-charge against the crowd. He asserted that the party is closely monitoring the developments and will firmly oppose any unlawful legal cases filed against students for exercising their democratic right to protest.

Criticising the state government's policies, CJP national media and south zone lead Vijay Mallangi questioned why technical education students were being forced onto the streets instead of continuing their studies in classrooms. Mallangi noted that government negligence and GO 97 were pushing aspiring mechanical, electrical, communication, and civil engineering professionals toward manual labour rather than skilled technical careers.

Mallangi also took aim at the administration for issuing policy decisions without holding adequate consultations with affected stakeholders. While urging the students to maintain their protest peacefully, the party demanded that student representatives be officially inducted into the State-appointed committee currently tasked with reviewing GO 97.

In a formal statement, the CJP outlined four key demands: the immediate withdrawal of GO 97, mandatory student representation on the review committee, legal and physical protection for students from alleged police excesses, and the immediate start of a transparent dialogue between the state government and the student community.
