CISF to Host 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship in Gachibowli

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) announced on Monday that it will host the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, starting July 23, 2026. The eight-day sporting event will feature around 1,600 athletes representing 36 State Police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) organisations.

Organised under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB), the championship will comprise competitions across five martial arts disciplines: judo, wushu, taekwondo, karate, and pencak silat.

Details of the tournament were shared during a media briefing in Hakimpet on Monday, which was attended by Mrs Harpreet Kaur Sohi, Director/IG, NISA, CISF, alongside Olympian Parupalli Kashyap and renowned rowing coach Shri Ismail Baig.

Speaking at the briefing, Mrs Harpreet Kaur Sohi stated that the championship reflects the CISF's commitment to promoting sporting excellence among police and CAPF personnel. She added that the event provides a vital platform for uniformed athletes to showcase their talents and advance to higher levels of competition.

Kashyap and Baig emphasized the connection between sports and uniformed services, highlighting how essential attributes like discipline, teamwork, resilience, and perseverance are to both fields.

The championship carries extra significance as a preparatory platform ahead of the Asian Games 2026, where judo, wushu, taekwondo, and karate are medal disciplines. Organisers noted that the event will help strengthen the talent pool for future national and international competitions.

The official mascot for the championship is "VIRA", which is inspired by the Spotted Deer (Chital), the State Animal of Telangana.

The event is being supported by the Government of Telangana and various partner organisations. The Sports Authority of Telangana is providing the competition infrastructure, while the Telangana Police Academy is assisting with accommodation and operational logistics. Additionally, the AIPSCB has deputed technical officials for the events, and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) will oversee anti-doping protocols.
