BRS Releases Chargesheet Against Congress Government in Telangana Over Unmet Promises

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi on Wednesday released a chargesheet against the Congress government at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, accusing the ruling party of failing to fulfil its key election promises and delivering distress to the people of the state.

Releasing the document alongside senior leaders including T Harish Rao, P Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, BRS working president KT Rama Rao announced a week-long statewide campaign from September 2 to September 8. The campaign will feature protests and the distribution of "Baaki cards" (Due Cards) detailing what the opposition termed as unfulfilled commitments.

Rama Rao stated that while the Congress had pledged 420 guarantees, 13 declarations, and six key guarantees, it failed to implement major components. He alleged that the state government borrowed Rs 4.5 lakh crore without creating new major assets, accusing it of inaugurating projects started during the previous BRS regime rather than constructing new infrastructure.

The BRS working president highlighted agricultural concerns, claiming that against a promised Rs 50,000-crore farm loan waiver, only Rs 20,000 crore had been implemented. He said farmers were experiencing delays at procurement centres and shortages of urea, while schemes such as Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima were either weakened or stopped.

On the issue of employment, Rama Rao pointed out that the promised two lakh government jobs within the first year had not been delivered, leaving youth without new notifications. He also raised concerns over pending fee reimbursement dues of Rs 12,000 crore and the delayed rollout of the Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance promised to women.

Rama Rao criticised the administration's handling of irrigation projects and river water management, alleging inaction regarding damage at the Pedavaagu project, the Sunkishala project retaining wall, and the Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel collapse. He asserted that the BRS would raise these matters during the Telangana Legislative Assembly session scheduled to begin on September 7.
