BRS Protests at Telangana Chowk in Karimnagar Over Congress Guarantees

Leaders and activists of the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi staged a demonstration at Telangana Chowk in Karimnagar on Wednesday, accusing the ruling Congress government of failing to honour its commitments to the public.

The demonstration was organised as part of a week-long, state-wide protest campaign launched by the BRS. During the gathering, party workers displayed a long flexi banner that listed the 420 promises made by the Congress party ahead of assuming office.

Party leaders alleged that the Congress administration has failed to implement its 420 promises as well as its six key guarantees, despite completing 1,000 days in governance.

Addressing the gathering at Telangana Chowk, Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar accused the ruling party of misleading the public with unfulfilled commitments. He asserted that no section of society is currently happy in Telangana under the present dispensation.

Highlighting issues faced by the agricultural sector, Kamalakar stated that the Congress had pledged to protect the interests of the farming community but had instead brought an end to the Rythu Bima scheme.

The legislator further alleged that key welfare initiatives have been disrupted. He stated that the government had committed to providing financial assistance for the marriage of poor women, yet it stalled the Kalyanalaxmi scheme. He also pointed out that students across the state are being denied fee reimbursement.

In addition, Kamalakar raised concerns regarding retired government staff, stating that retired employees have not been receiving their due retirement benefits. Turning to promises made specifically to women, the MLA stated that although two-wheelers had been assured to women, not a single vehicle has been distributed to beneficiaries so far.

Kamalakar declared that the BRS would not relent and would continue its agitations across the state on behalf of the public until the government executes all the assurances it provided to the people.
