BJP President Ramchander Rao Slams Telangana Govt Over Family Register

In Hyderabad, Telangana state BJP president N Ramchander Rao has strongly condemned the state government's decision to establish a statewide electronic Family Register and enable the issuance of certificates through the MeeSeva platform. Rao alleged that the ruling Congress administration is rushing the rollout of Family Register Certificates in order to safeguard an illegal vote bank during the SIR scrutiny process.

Addressing the policy shift in a post on the social media platform X, the BJP leader accused political rivals of long-standing misconduct regarding voter lists. He stated that the Congress, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) have sheltered illegal vote banks for decades within the state.

According to Rao, these political parties now view the upcoming SIR scrutiny as a political death warrant. He claimed that this fear is driving the Congress government's rapid launch of the Family Register Certificates, an initiative he described as being completely illegal.

Rao further asserted that the BJP will actively contest the state government's decision across multiple fronts. He stated that his party will not permit a single illegal Rohingya, Bangladeshi, or Pakistani resident to remain on Telangana's electoral rolls, adding that the BJP is fully prepared to fight the issue both on the streets and in the courts.

The state government's initiative establishes an official electronic Telangana Family Register alongside a facility to issue Family Register Certificates via the MeeSeva platform. According to an official government order, the portal was launched to streamline citizen service delivery, ensure strict uniformity during the verification of family particulars, and maintain a readily accessible digital record.

The government order further explained that the decision was taken in response to ongoing challenges faced by residents across Telangana. Citizens have frequently experienced difficulties in producing authenticated and reliable proof of their family composition when attempting to access various government services.
