BJP Demands DGP Probe After Clashes and Office Attacks in Hyderabad and Nalgonda

Political tensions between the ruling Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party escalated across Telangana following a series of alleged attacks in Hyderabad and Nalgonda, including the ransacking of district party president Nagam Varshit Reddy's residence in Himagiri Colony.
BJP leaders submitted a formal representation to the Telangana Director General of Police, seeking a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the violence and action against those responsible.
According to the BJP, Youth Congress activists attacked the party's state office in Hyderabad. In Nalgonda, approximately 50 individuals allegedly targeted the district BJP office with stones, sticks, and other objects.
The party also reported that attackers stormed Varshit Reddy's residence in Himagiri Colony, damaging household property and assaulting his mother, who sustained injuries. The BJP further alleged that a portrait of Sant Ravidas was smeared with a black substance, hurting the sentiments of the Dalit community, and demanded that cases be registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act if warranted by the probe.
The unrest grew after BJP workers protested at the camp office of Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in Nalgonda following the attack on the state office. In response to the escalating tensions, police deployed additional personnel at sensitive locations to maintain order.
The dispute intensified further in Hyderabad when Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest and later detained by police as he prepared to travel to Nalgonda to meet Varshit Reddy and his family.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin condemned the detention, stating that the state administration remained idle during attacks on BJP offices but acted against party leaders visiting the affected families.
The BJP has called for the immediate preservation of CCTV footage, photographs, and video evidence to identify and prosecute all suspects. The party also requested an inquiry into the assault on Varshit Reddy's mother, the desecration of the portrait, and allegations involving public representatives, including MLC Shankar Naik, alongside adequate security for party offices and leaders.
