BJP Chief N Ramchander Rao Accuses Telangana Government of Failing in Paddy Procurement

KARIMNAGAR — BJP state president N Ramchander Rao accused the Telangana government of failing in paddy procurement and showing negligence in handling farmers' concerns during a press conference in Karimnagar on Saturday. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating training classes for BJP workers, Rao alleged that the state government was inefficient despite receiving necessary funds from the central government.

Rao stated that although the Centre has provided money for paddy procurement and other related expenses, the state government has not been in a position to purchase the crop from local farmers. He argued that the state is playing the role of a middleman but has made the procurement process messy due to its own administrative inefficiency.

To highlight the ongoing issues faced by agricultural workers, Rao noted that he had launched a yatra named 'Rythu Gosa, BJP Barosa.' He criticized the state government for being indifferent to the farmers' plight, pointing out that crops had been damaged and soaked due to unseasonal rains without receiving proper attention from state authorities.

According to the BJP state president, the state government lacks proper statistics regarding paddy procurement. He alleged that different ministers have been disclosing inconsistent figures, which has created confusion and trouble for local farmers. Rao demanded that the government complete the procurement process on a war footing to alleviate these issues.

The BJP leader also addressed recent comments made by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar regarding fertilizers. Rao suspected that the state government was planning to shift blame onto the union government regarding urea supply in the coming days.

Rao emphasized that the central government is making all efforts to ensure adequate urea is available despite global shortages. He warned of severe consequences if the state government attempted to blame the Centre instead of properly distributing the urea to local farmers.
