Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi Urges Tricolour Hoisting At Hyderabad Pandals

The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) held a state-wide committee meeting on Monday at the Pulla Reddy School in Moosapet, Hyderabad, directing Ganesh pandal organizers to hoist the national flag and sing Vande Mataram on September 17. The meeting, chaired by BGUS President G Raghava Reddy, outlined several cultural, social, and administrative guidelines for the upcoming festival.

According to the samithi, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival will be celebrated on September 14, followed by the idol immersion procession on September 25. The call for singing Vande Mataram and hoisting the tricolour on September 17 is intended to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song.

During the meeting, which was attended by 64 representatives from 32 centers across Telangana, BGUS General Secretary Ravinuthala Shashidhar urged organizers to celebrate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas. He stated that these celebrations should focus on spreading social harmony, eradicating casteism, and strengthening Hindu unity.

The samithi also instructed organizers to conduct special programs aimed at teaching Sanatana Dharma to the younger generation during the festivities. Additionally, programs inspiring Hindu social awareness are to be organized to mark the birth anniversary of senior Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal.

To address administrative and logistical issues, the BGUS urged local committees to coordinate with various government departments at multiple levels. Shashidhar demanded that the Telangana state government ensure free power supply to all Ganesh pandals. He also suggested that organizers obtain special funds through local bodies to facilitate grand arrangements.

The samithi advised all committees to prepare local action plans to ensure that pandal organizers do not face harassment from the police. To counter what they described as false propaganda against the festival, organizers were asked to provide comprehensive and accurate information to the general public.

Furthermore, the BGUS called for special programs at all district centers to urge the government to take action against illegal foreign infiltrators.

On the cultural front, the samithi emphasized promoting spirituality among the youth. Shashidhar stated that youth should organize bhajans during the festival to protect them from the harmful influence of DJ culture, adding that pandals should only host programs that promote patriotism and devotion.
