Banjara Hills Resident Drowns While Fishing in Baswapuram Reservoir

Mohammed Naeem Shasha Junaid, a 39-year-old driver and resident of Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, drowned while fishing at the Baswapuram Reservoir in Bhongir on Sunday afternoon. The fatal incident occurred at around 12:00 PM after his leg allegedly became entangled in an object beneath the surface of the water.
According to official reports from the Bhongir Rural Police, the Dial 100 control room was first alerted about the drowning at approximately 12 noon. In response to the emergency call, a police patrol team immediately rushed to the reservoir site and initiated a search operation in an effort to locate the victim.
During the search operation conducted at the reservoir, officers succeeded in retrieving Junaid’s body from the water. Preliminary investigation conducted by the police revealed that Junaid had traveled to the Baswapuram Reservoir along with a group of friends for a fishing trip on Sunday.
Police officials stated that Junaid and two of his friends had entered the reservoir water together. While they were in the water, Junaid's leg became trapped by an underwater object beneath the surface. Unable to free himself from the obstruction, Junaid lost his balance and subsequently drowned in the reservoir.
Following the retrieval of his body from the water, police shifted Junaid to the Government General Hospital in Bhongir, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. The Bhongir Rural Police have informed Junaid’s family members regarding the incident and have officially taken up further investigation into the matter.
