Auto Driver Arrested with Illegal Country-Made Pistol in Saroornagar

Saroornagar police arrested a 22-year-old auto driver at an open place in Bhagath Singh Nagar in Saroornagar on Sunday night after finding him in possession of an illegal country-made pistol and a live round. Acting on specific information, police officers apprehended the suspect, identified as Md Imran alias Ibbu, at approximately 8 pm while he was moving through the area with the weapon.

The suspect, a resident of Shankar Nagar in Saroornagar, was taken into custody for interrogation. During questioning by law enforcement, Imran confessed that he was a school dropout originally from Jampaka Sahit village, located in the Geesugonda mandal of Warangal district.

Providing details regarding the origin of the illegal firearm, Saroornagar inspector N Srisailam stated that Imran had worked at a scrap shop in Rajendranagar about a year ago. During his time working at the shop, he met and became acquainted with Shakir, a native of Bihar.

According to Inspector Srisailam, Imran subsequently purchased the country-made pistol and live round from Shakir a few months ago for ₹40,000. The suspect admitted to buying the firearm with the intention of carrying out illegal activities.

Police officials further disclosed that Imran is a habitual property offender. He was previously involved in 17 offences registered across multiple police stations, including Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, Saroornagar, and Hayatnagar.

Following his arrest and interrogation, the accused auto driver was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
