Ashwath and Vedha Ashritha Win Butterfly Double Gold at Gachibowli Swimming Meet

Swimmers A Ashwath and G Vedha Ashritha secured double gold medals in the butterfly events at the Telangana State Sub-Junior and Junior Inter-District Swimming Championship, held at the GMC Balayogi Sports Complex in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Both athletes dominated their respective junior and sub-junior categories in the 50-metre and 100-metre butterfly races.

Ashwath claimed his double victory by winning both the boys' 50-metre butterfly and 100-metre butterfly events. In the boys' 100-metre butterfly race, Ashwath, representing the Rangareddy (RR) district, clocked a time of 1:07.05 to secure the top spot on the podium.

The race for the gold in the boys' 100-metre butterfly was a closely contested affair. Arjun Sandeep Kaswan, also representing the Rangareddy (RR) district, finished just a fraction of a second behind Ashwath, recording a time of 1:07.06 to claim the second position. Dara Prateek from Hyderabad took the third spot, finishing the race with a time of 1:13.53 to secure the bronze medal.

In the girls' division, G Vedha Ashritha, also known as Vedha Ashritha Gottumukkala, delivered a dominant performance to match Ashwath's double-gold feat. Representing the Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Vedha Ashritha won two gold medals by finishing first in both the girls' 50-metre butterfly and 100-metre butterfly events.

The state-level meet was organized to showcase the talent of sub-junior and junior swimmers from various districts across Telangana. By winning both the short and long-distance butterfly races, Ashwath and Vedha Ashritha established themselves as the premier young butterfly swimmers in the state.

The event took place at the swimming facilities of the GMC Balayogi Sports Complex, which serves as a major hub for sports in the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad. The championship saw competitive participation from districts including Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri.
