Aisha Rao Bridal Wear Fined ₹15,000 for Wastewater Discharge in Banjara Hills

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) officials have penalized a commercial establishment on Road No. 10 in Banjara Hills for discharging dirty sump-cleaning wastewater directly onto a public road. Aisha Rao Bridal Wear, situated in the Venkateshwara Colony ward within the Jubilee Hills circle, was fined ₹15,000 after the released dirty water clogged the nearby drainage system and caused widespread inconvenience to local residents for an entire day.

The penalty was imposed by HMWS&SB officials following an enforcement inspection at the premises. According to details provided by the Water Board, the commercial bridal wear establishment, which operates under the management of K. Swaroop Kumar Reddy, had engaged an external private agency to execute a cleaning operation on its underground sump.

During the execution of the work, the private cleaning agency generated a substantial quantity of wastewater. Instead of arranging for the dirty water to be disposed of through appropriate and lawful disposal channels, the workers used a dewatering submersible pump set to discharge the effluent directly out onto the public roadway on Road No. 10.

Water Board officials confirmed that this improper disposal method resulted in an immediate and severe drainage blockage along the stretch. The clogged drainage network left dirty water accumulating in the area, resulting in persistent civic disruption and inconvenience for residents and commuters passing through Venkateshwara Colony ward throughout the day.

In response to a formal complaint regarding the road overflow, HMWS&SB officials inspected the Banjara Hills site to assess the violation. Upon confirming the illegal discharge, the inspecting team seized the dewatering submersible pump set that was being used in the sump cleaning operation.

Following the seizure and the imposition of the ₹15,000 fine, Water Board officials held a counselling session with representatives of Aisha Rao Bridal Wear and the hired private agency. The representatives were instructed on mandatory wastewater regulations and warned that dirty water must never be pumped onto public roads during future maintenance activities. The Board reiterated that deliberate obstruction of the municipal drainage network and discharge of wastewater onto roads will not be tolerated, warning that repeat offenders face even stricter enforcement actions.
