2015 Murder Of Woman In Hyderabad's AG Colony Remains Unsolved

More than a decade after a 40-year-old woman was murdered inside her AG Quarters apartment in AG Colony, Hyderabad, the case remains unsolved despite extensive police investigations. The incident occurred on an afternoon in 2015 within the jurisdiction of the SR Nagar police station, where responding officers discovered the victim with a fatal head injury caused by a blunt object.

According to police investigators, the assailant attacked the woman inside the residence and subsequently dragged her body into a bedroom before leaving the premises. Detectives believe this was done in an attempt to delay the discovery of the crime.

Initial response teams from the SR Nagar police station rushed to the scene alongside senior officers, a clues team, a dog squad, and detectives. However, investigators faced immediate challenges due to an apparent lack of witnesses. A security guard posted at the AG Colony apartment complex reported hearing no commotion and seeing no suspicious individuals. The family's pet Pomeranian also provided no helpful details to assist in reconstructing the sequence of events.

The victim, a native of Vijayawada who had relocated to Hyderabad, lived with her husband and son. At the time of the murder, her husband was serving as an Accounts Officer in the Accountant General’s office. Their son was present inside the apartment during the attack, but because he was suffering from mental health issues, investigators were limited in their ability to gather actionable information from his account.

In their search for motives and suspects, detectives thoroughly examined the victim's personal background and social circle. After learning that she had developed a keen interest in rearing birds and frequently bought pets at the Erragadda bird market, police pursued leads in that direction. A local bird trader was taken in for questioning regarding a potential connection to the case, but the inquiry failed to yield any breakthrough.

Over the years, police teams have repeatedly re-examined the evidence, revisited leads, and reviewed forensic details in hopes of utilizing advances in forensic science. Despite these sustained efforts across multiple reviews, no suspect has been identified, and no motive behind the killing has been established. The file remains open among Hyderabad's unresolved homicide cases.
