12 Weapons Stolen from Madras Regiment Armoury in Secunderabad's Bolarum

A multi-pronged investigation has been launched by the Army, military intelligence, and local police following the theft of 12 sophisticated weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the Madras Regiment armoury in the Bolarum military area of Secunderabad. Several suspects have already been questioned in connection with the security breach.

The missing arms and ammunition were discovered after defence personnel carried out an internal check at the armoury. Following the discovery, personnel conducted searches across the surrounding premises before formally lodging a complaint with the Bolarum police.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Bolarum police registered a criminal case under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police teams, alongside senior Army officials, have since visited the site to inspect the premises and conduct detailed inquiries.

Army authorities have ordered a formal court of inquiry into the incident. As part of the proceedings, investigators have questioned guard-duty personnel who were stationed at the facility during the period when the weapons reportedly went missing.

Military intelligence officials are also actively involved in the investigation. According to sources, authorities are closely examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage recovered from the regiment premises in an effort to trace the movements around the armoury and identify the culprit.

Local police officials have maintained strict confidentiality regarding the developments in the case. Malkajgiri Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch Sridhar declined to elaborate on the details of the ongoing investigation, stating, “As it is a national security issue, we cannot comment on this.”
