Zahirabad Industrial Smart City to Draw Rs 15,000 Cr Investment by 2028

The development of the 3,245-acre Zahirabad Industrial Smart City project is scheduled for completion by March 2028, with the Telangana government targeting investments worth Rs 15,000 crore and the creation of nearly two lakh direct and indirect jobs, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said on Monday.
Sridhar Babu made the announcement while participating via video conference in a meeting of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust. The meeting was chaired from New Delhi by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
Highlighting the scope of the project, Sridhar Babu stated that the Zahirabad Industrial Smart City has been planned as a major industrial and manufacturing hub for Telangana. The state government holds a 51 per cent stake in the initiative through its land contribution, while the central government is extending financial support for the development of the industrial corridor.
The development plan for the smart city has already been submitted to the special purpose vehicle established for the project. Works are being carried out under the engineering, procurement, and construction model.
Sridhar Babu stated that infrastructure works would be finished according to the committed timeline. The tendering process for the project's water supply infrastructure has been completed, while works related to power supply are also set to be finished within the stipulated schedule.
