Wrong-Side Driving and Skidding Cause 241 Crashes in Malkajgiri Limits

A total of 241 road accidents caused by self-skidding and wrong-side driving resulted in 56 deaths and left 218 people injured within the Malkajgiri Commissionerate limits up to July, according to traffic police data.
The figures revealed that while self-skidding resulted in more fatalities, wrong-side driving accounted for a higher overall volume of accidents and injuries across the commissionerate.
Out of the two major causes, self-skidding accounted for 88 accidents. These included 47 fatal crashes that claimed 49 lives. The remaining 41 non-fatal self-skidding accidents left 55 people injured.
Wrong-side driving was responsible for 153 accidents in the area. Among these, seven fatal crashes resulted in seven deaths. The remaining 146 non-fatal incidents caused injuries to 163 people.
Traffic inspector K. Pradeep said traffic data recorded up to July showed that self-skidding and wrong-side driving were the two major factors behind the road accidents.
Following the findings, traffic authorities stressed the need for stricter enforcement against wrong-side driving and urged motorists to maintain controlled speeds to prevent self-skidding accidents.
