WRO India National Championship 2026 Concludes at GMR Aerocity Hyderabad

HYDERABAD — The three-day World Robot Olympiad (WRO) India National Championship 2026 was held at GMR Arena in GMR Aerocity Hyderabad, bringing together young robotics teams from across the country. Following rigorous regional qualifying rounds, national winners across four categories secured their spots to represent India at the global WRO Championship 2026 in Puerto Rico, USA.

The national competition tested the qualifying student teams across multiple parameters, including technical execution, coding, engineering, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. A panel of judges evaluated a diverse range of robotic models and technical solutions designed by school students nationwide.

In the Future Innovators category, Team Punaruttham, Team SkyWalkers, and Team UWR CNRGY claimed the top honours. The RoboMission category saw victories from Team Curiosity, Team Command Z, and Team Robotitans. Meanwhile, Team 2EZ secured the top spot in the RoboSports category, and Team Glitch won the Future Engineers category.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudhanshu Sharma, founder of the India STEM Foundation, noted that the WRO India journey demonstrates that future-ready talent is not created by technology alone, but develops when young people are given the freedom to build, experiment, fail, rethink, and solve problems.

National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) Director General KS Murali highlighted the high standards of the competition, stating that the quality and diversity of the robotic solutions presented at the national championship made the evaluation process demanding for the jury.

The winning teams from Hyderabad will now prepare to compete against international participants at the global championship in Puerto Rico.
