Woman dies after jumping from Miyapur high-rise, six-month-old baby survives

A 37-year-old woman died after jumping from the sixth floor of an apartment building while holding her six-month-old infant in the Miyapur area of Hyderabad on Friday. The mother, identified as Isha Sahu, died from the fall, while her baby daughter survived with minor injuries after landing on a protective fence.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 pm on Friday. According to the police, the six-month-old infant, Vani, escaped a deadly fall because she landed on a protective fence structure before hitting the ground. Residents of the apartment complex quickly rushed the infant to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors have since reported that the child is out of danger and remains in stable condition.
"The infant survived due to a fortunate sequence of events after falling onto a fence structure. The child is receiving medical care and is stable," a police source said.
Isha, who was originally from Madhya Pradesh, had been married to her husband for 11 years. The couple, both employed in the private sector, lived in the Miyapur apartment with their two daughters, eight-year-old Vidi and six-month-old Vani. Other family members were inside the apartment when the incident took place.
According to police sources, Isha had been suffering from severe insomnia, anxiety, and symptoms of postpartum depression for several months before the incident. The sudden tragedy has left relatives, neighbours, and local residents in shock.
The Miyapur police reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. Officers carried out a preliminary inquiry at the scene and shifted Isha's body for a post-mortem examination.
"We have registered a case and launched an investigation. Preliminary inquiry indicates that the woman was undergoing mental stress, but the exact circumstances are being verified," a police official said.
The police stated that they are examining all aspects of the case. Investigators are currently awaiting further details from family members and are reviewing the victim's medical records as the investigation continues.
