Woman Confronts Man Alleging Harassment Near Charminar in Hyderabad

A woman waiting for an autorickshaw near the historic Charminar monument in Hyderabad was recently subjected to alleged harassment by a man who claimed to be a ride-hailing driver. The incident, detailed in a report published on August 10, 2026, occurred while the woman was standing near the landmark awaiting public transport.

According to the victim's account, a man identified as Irfan approached her while she was waiting for an autorickshaw near the monument. He reportedly teased her by making an unwelcome remark, asking, "Shall I drop you?" Following the comment, the woman observed that the man's motorcycle failed to start. During this time, she also noticed that the bike lacked a number plate.

When the woman questioned the individual regarding his actions and the missing vehicle registration plate, he allegedly claimed to be a driver working for Rapido. However, when she asked him to present his official identification card to prove his affiliation with the ride service, the man reportedly grew hesitant and failed to produce any identification.

The entire sequence of events was captured on video by the woman, who confronted the man alone at the scene. She questioned him directly despite being by herself during the encounter near the Charminar landmark.

She subsequently published the video recording and her written account of the incident on Instagram, outlining the distress she experienced during the encounter. Following the upload, her post received widespread appreciation and support online, with social media users praising her courageous response to the alleged harassment.
