Wednesday Rain Disrupts Uppal Cricket Match And Brings 26 mm Rainfall To Hyderabad

On Wednesday evening, June 24, 2026, light to moderate rainfall was observed across several parts of Hyderabad, including Secunderabad, Begumpet, Nacharam, Uppal, and Nagole. The rainfall, which began as a drizzle at approximately 7 p.m., followed a largely cloudy day across the region and continued well into the night.

The weather development matched the forecasts issued earlier in the day. As predicted by the India Meteorological Department, the city of Hyderabad had been experiencing overcast skies since the morning hours of Wednesday, which eventually culminated in the evening showers.

The wet weather had a direct impact on local sports in the city. The rainfall briefly disrupted an ongoing cricket match in the Telangana T20 League. This match, played between the Nalgonda Knights and the Karimnagar Diamonds, was taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium located in the Uppal locality.

According to the official weather data monitored and released by the Telangana Development Planning Society, the precipitation levels varied significantly across different localities of the city. As of 10 p.m. on Wednesday, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport recorded the highest volume of rainfall, registering 26 mm.

The rainfall measurements compiled by the Telangana Development Planning Society showed that several other areas also received notable downpours. Following the airport's high of 26 mm, the locality of Nadergul recorded 17 mm of rain, while Adibatla registered 15.5 mm of precipitation.

In other parts of the city and its neighboring areas, Hayathnagar recorded 11 mm of rainfall. The locality of Nagole received 10.8 mm of rain, while Kistareddipet saw 7 mm. Filmnagar recorded 5 mm of rainfall during the evening.

The drizzle, which spread across Uppal, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Nacharam, Nagole, and neighboring localities, brought a wet end to a day that began with overcast skies.
