Warasiguda Driver Sentenced to 7 Days in Jail for Misusing 112 Helpline

A local court on Thursday sentenced a 34-year-old driver from Warasiguda in Hyderabad to seven days of imprisonment for repeatedly misusing the 112 emergency response number and abusing police personnel.

The convict, identified as Wardha Satish, is a resident of Ramnagar under the jurisdiction of the Warasiguda police station. He was found guilty of making repeated unnecessary calls to the emergency helpline and using obscene language while speaking with the operators on duty, thereby disrupting and wasting the time of emergency services staff.

According to police officials, the CDO functional vertical division registered an e-petty case against Satish following multiple complaints regarding harassment through unwarranted calls to 112. The helpline is designated specifically for citizens seeking immediate police assistance during critical emergencies.

Following the registration of the case, Satish was apprehended and produced before the 12th Special Judicial Magistrate.

Magistrate B.V. Nagender Reddy, who presided over the hearing, held the accused guilty under provisions of the City Police Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), subsequently awarding him a seven-day jail term for his actions.
