Warangal Super Specialty Hospital to Open in December, TIMS Projects on Track
Construction work at the Warangal Super Specialty Hospital is in its final stages and is scheduled for completion by the end of October, health officials announced during a review meeting on Saturday. The facility is being prepared for inauguration in December following trial runs set to begin in November.
Installation of essential medical equipment at the Warangal facility, including CT scan and X-ray machines, is slated for completion by September. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha directed officials to set up a dedicated committee of doctors to visit the Warangal hospital every 15 days to monitor progress. He also instructed officials to work closely in coordination with the roads and buildings department as well as contractors to ensure timely completion.
Updates were also provided on the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) projects across Hyderabad. Officials reported that the TIMS Alwal unit will be ready by the end of this year, while the TIMS LB Nagar facility is projected to be completed by March 2027.
Alongside the infrastructure review, Minister Rajanarsimha assessed the seasonal disease situation across the state. Officials noted that reported cases of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and other seasonal illnesses have declined compared to the corresponding period last year, although typhoid infections have recorded a slight increase so far this year.
To curb outbreaks, the health minister directed authorities to intensify fever surveys, surveillance in high-risk zones, and mosquito-control measures, including fogging, larval-control operations, sanitation drives, and dry-day observances. Government hospitals were directed to maintain sufficient stocks of medicines, diagnostic kits, and operational equipment.
Officials were further instructed to conduct daily monitoring of influenza-like illness cases across both government and private hospitals and submit weekly assessment reports to track disease trends.
