Warangal Airport to Be Operational Within a Year, Says Kishan Reddy

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced on Monday that the Warangal airport will be operational within a year, during a public address where he challenged political rivals to a debate at Ambedkar Chowrasta in Warangal. Speaking at a BJP booth workers meeting, the minister pledged to be among the first passengers to land in the city on the inaugural flight.

In addition to the airport, Reddy announced that construction of a new 30-acre railway terminal in Warangal will begin next month. He also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for the proposed Sammakka-Sarakka Tribal University later this year.

According to Reddy, the Central government has sanctioned approximately ₹17,000 crore to transform Warangal into a major urban centre. He rejected claims by the Congress and BRS parties that the Centre had neglected local development, challenging rival leaders to a debate at either Martyrs Memorial or Ambedkar Chowrasta.

Providing a detailed report card of Central projects, Reddy highlighted progress at the Kazipet rail coach factory. He stated that roughly 90 per cent of the work at the facility is complete, with coach production expected to begin by January 2027. He also noted that the modernisation of the Warangal railway station has been completed and inaugurated by the Prime Minister, alongside a ₹2,909 crore sanction for the Kazipet–Ballarsha third line.

On urban and transport infrastructure, the minister shared that the Warangal ring road is 50 per cent complete with ₹500 crore sanctioned. The Centre is also upgrading the Hyderabad–Warangal and Warangal–Karimnagar national highways, with ₹1,250 crore of work currently underway on the Karimnagar stretch.

Furthermore, Reddy mentioned that Warangal has been allotted one of seven national mega textile parks, alongside an MSME technology centre and PM Sri schools spanning 110 acres. He urged local voters to support the BJP in the upcoming municipal elections to secure further development funds.
