Walkers International Organises 5K Walkathon at People’s Plaza

Walkers International organised a 5K Walkathon at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road in Hyderabad on Friday as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations. The event was held to promote walking, physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, and environmental awareness among the city's residents.

A diverse gathering turned out for the morning event, bringing together members of Walkers International alongside public representatives, officials, medical professionals, and media personalities. Local volunteers and fitness enthusiasts also took part in the walkathon.

In addition to the walk, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) urban forestry wing carried out a green initiative at the venue. Officials from the wing distributed free household plants directly to participants and members of the public.

The plant distribution drive was organised to encourage residents to grow plants at home, supporting broader community efforts to increase green cover across Hyderabad.

Organisers stated that the initiative aimed to highlight the clear connection between personal wellness and environmental protection. They urged citizens to adopt regular walking and other healthy habits while taking active steps to build a greener city.

The 5K walk marked a key event in Walkers International’s four-decade journey of advocating for physical activity, health, and walking.
