Vishweshwar Reddy Demands BCCI Associate Membership for Telangana Cricket Association

On June 2, 2026, Chevella MP and Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) Patron Konda Vishweshwar Reddy urged cricket stakeholders and the public to back the association's demand for BCCI Associate Membership, calling for the campaign to become a people's movement. Speaking at a "Round Table Conference with Stakeholders" organized by the TCA at Haritha Plaza in Hyderabad, Reddy highlighted the urgent need to address the lack of opportunities for rural cricketers and ensure transparency in local cricket administration.

The conference brought together former cricketers, women cricketers, district representatives, sports activists, administrators, and cricket stakeholders from across the state. The attendees gathered to deliberate on the future of Telangana cricket and discuss the need for equitable opportunities for aspiring players.

During the meeting, TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy presented a detailed overview of the association’s journey since its inception. He highlighted the TCA's organizational growth, legal battles, grassroots development initiatives, district-level expansion, and the achievements of local cricketers nurtured under the platform over the past decade.

Vishweshwar Reddy expressed strong concern over the continued neglect of district and rural cricketing talent. He observed that cricket administration in the state has remained heavily concentrated within Hyderabad city, depriving talented youngsters from other regions of adequate opportunities to showcase their abilities.

Reddy noted that the existing cricket administration has failed to create a robust pathway for rural cricketers to progress to higher levels. He further stated that numerous allegations of corruption, irregularities, and administrative failures have severely affected confidence in the present system.

To resolve these issues, Reddy argued that the BCCI must seriously consider granting Associate Membership to the TCA, which he said has worked consistently at the grassroots level. He urged supporters to build public awareness and collective pressure alongside pursuing legal remedies. Telangana activist Vithal also addressed the gathering, calling on citizens and sports lovers to unite.
