Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar flagged off the sacred Ghatam procession at the historic Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple in the Old City on Monday. The inauguration took place after the police chief offered special prayers seeking blessings at the shrine.

Prior to inaugurating the procession, Sajjanar prayed to Goddess Mahankali for the continued health and prosperity of Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled how the Goddess’s grace had protected the region during historical plagues and floods.

The commissioner expressed his gratitude to temple trustees, event organisers, civic officials, and devotees for their cooperation and support. He also praised police personnel for their role in maintaining law and order throughout the festival.

Several senior police officials were present at the event, including M. Srinivas, Tafseer Iqbal, Vaibhav Gaikwad, Khare Kiran Prabhakar, and R. Venkateswarlu. Temple committee members in attendance included chairman Dr Prabhakar, general secretary Dattatreya, and adviser Rajaratnam.
