University of Hyderabad Secures Fourth Rank Nationally in IIRF India Rankings 2026

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) in Hyderabad secured the fourth rank nationally among Central Universities in the newly released Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) India Rankings 2026, which were announced on June 5, 2026. The institution also emerged as the top-ranked central university within the state of Telangana.

The annual league tables, which evaluate top-performing higher education institutions across Universities, Engineering, and Business Schools, highlighted UoH’s sustained institutional development, robust research environment, and outstanding academic outcomes.

The ranking framework is recognized for its rigorous methodology. For the 2026 rankings, institutions were thoroughly scrutinised using nine meticulously defined evaluation parameters. These parameters assessed both the qualitative and quantitative impact of the university’s academic ecosystem.

The assessment parameters included academic excellence and perception, research and output, employability and outreach, inclusivity and growth, and transparency. The final results highlighted the university's strong institutional growth and supportive research environment.

Reacting to the announcement, UoH Vice-Chancellor in-charge Prof. J Anuradha credited the achievement to the collective and tireless efforts of the university faculty, researchers, students, and non-teaching staff.

Prof. Anuradha stated that securing the fourth position in a highly competitive pool of central institutions underscores UoH’s core strengths in fostering cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, maintaining a healthy student-to-faculty ratio, and building robust global industry linkages.
