Unemployed Youth Confront TJS Chief Kodandaram at Somajiguda Press Club

Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief and MLC Prof. M Kodandaram faced the ire of unemployed youth at the Somajiguda Press Club in Hyderabad on Wednesday, where he had arrived to attend a meeting. Protesters confronted the leader over government job recruitment issues, the upper age limit for applicants, and the Congress government's promise of two lakh jobs.

Mild tension prevailed at the venue as the mob of unemployed youth confronted the MLC in the presence of media personnel. The protesters questioned him regarding the rationale behind age restrictions for government jobs when political leaders face no such upper age limits.

During the confrontation, the youth highlighted the disparity between political appointments and public sector employment criteria. Protesters asked why an individual could go to the Supreme Court even at 60 years of age to secure an MLC post, while a qualified candidate at 30 years old is deemed ineligible for a police job.

Indra Nayak, a representative of the Unemployed Youth Joint Action Committee (JAC), expressed disappointment over the current situation. He stated that job aspirants voted for the Congress party during the Assembly elections on the recommendation of Prof. Kodandaram. He explained that because the TJS had tied up with the Congress party, unemployed youth believed that recruitment notifications for government positions would be issued promptly.

Nayak noted that the Congress government was not issuing large-scale recruitment notifications as promised. He urged that the government should at least increase the upper age limit for the jobs that have already been notified, criticizing the administration for not bothering to address the concerns of the youth.

In response to the confrontation, Prof. Kodandaram tried to pacify the gathering of protesters. He informed them that he was unable to speak with them at length immediately, as he was getting late for an important press conference at the venue.
