UFERWAS Seeks Housing and Aid for 30 Evacuated Gachibowli Families

The United Federation of RWAs (Uferwas), Cyberabad Chapter, has urged Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Srijana to provide government accommodation and financial assistance for 30 families evacuated from two apartment complexes in Gachibowli.

The families were evacuated from Jayadarsini Residency and Sterling White Field Apartments by the municipal corporation, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency, and police after an illegally constructed seven-storey building in Anjaiah Nagar collapsed onto the adjoining residential structures.

According to Uferwas, the collapsed structure had been erected on a 48-square-yard plot. The adjoining complexes comprise 58 flats, where 30 families were residing. The collapse damaged flats from the first to the fifth floors of C-Block, resulting in an estimated loss of household goods worth approximately Rs 1 crore.

The federation noted that the displaced residents, including children and a 90-year-old woman, had been staying in private hotels or with relatives at their own expense for four days following the incident.

While welcoming the municipal corporation’s demolition action against the illegal structure, Uferwas emphasized that legal flat owners had been rendered homeless through no fault of their own. The federation sought Rs 2 lakh in compensation for each affected family to cover emergency shifting, temporary rent, and the loss of essential belongings.

In its formal representation, Uferwas requested one month of government-funded accommodation for the displaced families at State guesthouses in Lake View or at four- or five-star hotels located near Gachibowli. The federation stated that temporary housing is necessary until structural stability assessments are completed and the apartment flats are officially declared safe for residents to return.
