Two sent to Gandhi Hospital from Hyderabad airport over yellow fever records

A Sudanese student and his contact were shifted to Gandhi Hospital in the early hours of Friday, 5 June 2026, after arriving at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad without proper yellow fever vaccination documentation.
The Sudanese national, who is a student pursuing his higher studies at a private university in Hyderabad, was initially attended to by medical professionals. He was subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital by Apollo Hospital doctors from Nanakramguda.
According to doctors at Gandhi Hospital, both of the individuals are currently in stable condition. However, because they arrived at the airport without proper documentation related to the yellow fever vaccination, they are being monitored by health authorities.
Medical teams at the airport and the hospital took the decision to transfer and isolate the passengers to ensure health protocols were followed. Both individuals remain under observation at the medical facility while authorities address the documentation issue.
