Two Miyapur Contractors Booked For Forcing Couple Into Bonded Labor For Four Years

The Miyapur police have registered a criminal case against two local contractors for allegedly confining a couple and forcing them into bonded labor for the past four years at an under-construction building at Prem Nagar in New Hafeezpet, Miyapur. The case, which was reported on July 14, 2026, involves allegations of unlawful confinement to recover a debt borrowed for medical treatment.

The accused contractors, identified by the police as Ramulu and Krishna, allegedly held 40-year-old Kota Srinivas and his wife, Ramya, against their will. The victims were forced to work at the Miyapur construction site to repay the money they had borrowed from the two men.

The police action was initiated based on a statement from A. Srinu, who serves as the Mandal Revenue Inspector (MRI) of the Serilingampally mandal. According to the official complaint filed by the Mandal Revenue Inspector, the ordeal began after Srinivas accumulated a debt of ₹3 lakh to pay for his wife Ramya's medical expenses.

Srinivas had borrowed a sum of ₹2 lakh from the contractor Ramulu. Additionally, he took another loan of ₹1 lakh from the second contractor, Krishna, to meet the medical costs of his wife's treatment.

Following these transactions, the two contractors brought the couple to the under-construction building located in the Prem Nagar area of New Hafeezpet in Miyapur. According to the complaint, Ramulu and Krishna then unlawfully confined Srinivas and Ramya at the site.

For the past four years, the couple was allegedly compelled to work as bonded laborers under the control of the two contractors at the construction site.

Following the official complaint by Mandal Revenue Inspector A. Srinu, the Miyapur police registered a case against both Ramulu and Krishna. The police department has launched an investigation into the allegations of bonded labor and unlawful confinement. Further details regarding the investigation are awaited as officers look into the matter.
