Two EAGLE Constables Caught by H-NEW Selling Seized Ecstasy Pills in Hyderabad

A routine investigation to track a drug peddler led the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) to arrest two constables from the state's elite anti-drug agency, EAGLE, in Hyderabad. The two personnel were allegedly caught attempting to sell 1 kg of seized ecstasy pills valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh.
The arrested constables have been identified as Swamy and Narahari. Both personnel had previously been rewarded on multiple occasions for their roles in successful anti-drug operations.
According to police officials, Swamy, who was deployed in EAGLE’s railway regional wing, stumbled upon the contraband a few days ago. Instead of reporting the seizure through official channels, he shared the information with Narahari. The two constables allegedly chose not to disclose the drug recovery to their higher-ups and retained the ecstasy pills for sale.
Investigators stated that the duo had access to consumer data gathered for official surveillance purposes. They allegedly misused this confidential information to operate as clandestine drug peddlers, contacting established peddlers across the network to offer the contraband for sale.
The operation unravelled while H-NEW officers were questioning a peddler who was already under their surveillance. During the interrogation, the team obtained a lead regarding an unknown seller in the market. When H-NEW officers traced the source of the drug offer, the suspects were identified as the two serving EAGLE constables.
A formal probe was initiated after the incident and findings were brought to the attention of EAGLE Director Sandeep Shandilya.
