Two dead, six injured as airborne car crashes on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway

Two people were killed and six others critically injured on Sunday afternoon after a car suffered a tyre burst, became airborne, and crashed into oncoming traffic near Gundrampally village in Nalgonda on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway.
The deceased individuals have been identified by the authorities as Kasireddy Devendar Reddy and Saritha. Both of the victims were reported to be residents of Akkanapally village, which is located in the Narketpally mandal.
According to reports from the scene, the accident occurred when the first car suddenly suffered a tyre burst. The vehicle then violently hit the road divider, which caused it to fly into the air. The airborne car crossed over to the other side of the highway and landed directly on top of two other cars that were coming in the opposite direction.
The high-impact collision resulted in extensive damage to all three vehicles involved, reducing them to a wrecked mangle of metal. Six other occupants of the cars sustained critical injuries during the freak accident.
The crash triggered a massive traffic jam on the busy National Highway, bringing vehicle movement to a complete standstill. Local police officials arrived at the location and had to struggle for over an hour to extricate the injured victims who were trapped inside the mangled remains of the cars.
Once rescued from the wreckage, the six critically injured individuals were immediately rushed to a government hospital in Choutuppal for emergency medical treatment. Police personnel subsequently worked to clear the damaged vehicles from the road and restore the normal flow of traffic on the highway.
