Two BLOs Assaulted During Voter Roll Revision In Banjara Hills

Two booth-level officers (BLOs) conducting a voter roll revision were threatened, verbally abused, and physically assaulted by a group of four individuals at the Government High School in NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills, on Monday. The incident, which took place between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM under the Banjara Hills police station limits, disrupted the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.

According to the police complaint, Pitla Sandhya, who is an outsourced Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) employee working as a BLO at Polling Station 237, was distributing voter enumeration forms at the school. She was carrying out her duties alongside several of her fellow officials.

Sandhya was accompanied at the school by her colleague Devi, who is also a BLO. Other colleagues present at the venue during the incident included Nagajyothi, Vijaya, Shravani, Mahender, supervisor Venkatesh, and Jayakrishna.

During the enumeration process, four individuals identified as Jojula Raju, Rajitha, Shankaramma, and Narasimha arrived at the Government High School. The group allegedly interfered with the officials' work, demanding that the enumeration forms be distributed only to individuals of their choice. They also warned the officials of consequences if they did not follow these demands.

The situation escalated when Rajitha and Shankaramma physically assaulted Sandhya and Devi. The accused also verbally abused the officials, preventing them from continuing their duties and halting the voter roll revision process.

In her complaint, Sandhya also stated that the same group of four individuals had threatened the officials at the exact same location a day earlier, on Sunday.

Following the confrontation on Monday, a formal complaint was lodged with the authorities. The Banjara Hills police registered a case against Jojula Raju, Rajitha, Shankaramma, and Narasimha, and have launched an investigation into the incident.
