Two arrested in Vanasthalipuram for robbing and murdering man with stone

The Vanasthalipuram Police have arrested two men, including a local rowdy-sheeter, for allegedly robbing an intoxicated man of Rs 1,000 and a mobile phone before bludgeoning him to death with a stone in the Vanasthalipuram area of Hyderabad. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, July 11, 2026, and the arrests were reported on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, following a swift investigation.

The suspects have been identified by the authorities as Sriramulu, a registered rowdy-sheeter, and his friend Narasimha, a hearing and speech-impaired man. Both of the accused are residents of Auto Nagar in Vanasthalipuram.

According to the police, the sequence of events began on Saturday night when Sriramulu consumed toddy at a toddy compound located near Sushma. After drinking, he met up with Narasimha at a nearby wine shop. While at the location, the duo noticed an intoxicated man and decided to follow him.

The suspects trailed the victim through the area until he eventually fell asleep near a petrol bunk. Seizing the opportunity, Sriramulu and Narasimha allegedly stole Rs 1,000 in cash and the victim’s mobile phone from his possession.

However, the victim woke up during the robbery and confronted the duo, which triggered a heated argument. Fearing that the man would raise an alarm and draw attention, the suspects allegedly hit him on the head with a stone and fled the scene. The victim subsequently died of his injuries.

The murder was officially reported to the police on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Investigators were able to crack the case after thoroughly examining surveillance footage from CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding area.

The video footage helped the Vanasthalipuram Police identify the suspects and track them down. Both Sriramulu and Narasimha were arrested, and the police have confirmed that further investigation into the murder is currently underway.
